A calculus for four-valued sequential logic

چکیده
We present a complete axiomatisation for four-valued sequential logic. It consists of nine axioms, from which all valid laws can be derived by equational reasoning. These nine axioms are independent of each other. © 2011 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

A Calculus for Sequential Logic with 4 Values
This note presents a complete axiomatisation for four-valued sequential logic. `Sequential' means that arguments are evaluated from left to right, until an answer can be obtained. Three-valued sequential logic is due to McCarthy [6]. In [1] four truth-values are introduced: true, false, mistake and divergent. Several four-valued logics arise by restricting the set of connectives. In the nomencl...
متن کاملIntroduction to Expression Refinement
We present an outline of a refinement calculus for strict functional programming, based on four-valued logic and equational reasoning. The languages imitates the features known from the imperative Refinement Calculus in a language of expressions.
متن کاملBochvar-McCarthy Logic and Process Algebra
We propose a combination of Bochvar’s strict three-valued logic, McCarthy’s sequential three-valued logic, and process algebra via the conditional guard construct. This combination entails the introduction of a new constant meaningless in process algebra. We present an operational semantics in SOS-style, and a completeness result for ACP with conditional guard construct and the proposed logic.
متن کاملA Four-Valued Fuzzy Propositional Logic
It is generally accepted that knowledge based systems would be smarter and more robust if they can manage inconsistent, incomplete or imprecise knowledge. This paper is about a four-valued fuzzy propositional logic, which is the result of the combination of a four-valued logic and a fuzzy propositional logic. Besides the nice computational properties, the logic enables us also to deal both with...
متن کاملA Gentzen Calculus for Nothing but the Truth
In their paper Nothing but the Truth Andreas Pietz and Umberto Rivieccio present Exactly True Logic (ETL), an interesting variation upon the four-valued logic for first-degree entailment FDE that was given by Belnap and Dunn in the 1970s. Pietz & Rivieccio provide this logic with a Hilbert-style axiomatisation and write that finding a nice sequent calculus for the logic will presumably not be e...
